Just put this together last night for a friend of mine with a music label. “Lokol”
What do you guys think?
update:
I just heard back and it wasn’t what he was looking for. SOOOO, I guess we’ll change it up a bit and use it for AMSG

i did a test print on a crap shirt today and it looked pretty good. gotta make some tweaks so the highlights don’t get blown out, but other than that i’m happy with the printing.

I don’t really know how you’re going to print this.

i do it DTG style. not screen print. so I don’t have to worry about grades.

what’s DTG style? put up a picture of how it came out!

Direct To Garment Printing. large format inkjet printer with specialized inks for cotton and other substrates.
The shirt I printed on had other designs on it so you can’t see it well in the photo. When I get a chance I’ll post a shirt we make at the dayjob.

nice.. how’s the quality on DTG?
aimee said about 1 year ago
like a kornit or something of a smaller scale?
MIKS said about 1 year ago
yeah, similar to a kornit. the quality is damn good.
here’s the print of this i did on that crap shirt:

I’ll post a better one when I get a print done for AMSG of this. in the next 2 weeks or so. more detail too.

is the set-up for DTG expensive? inks? (more so then getting trad. screen set-up i mean), what’s your max size on it?
sorry for all the questions but this is pretty awesome

Yes the front end is more expensive, but it’s much more versatile than screen printing. you can print on anything from skateboards, tshirts, glass, plastics, metal, etc. There is quite a process as far as maintenance but the time spent is well worth the outcome. The picture above was my first print of this design using a different technique to incorporate the “glow”. I did another toward the end of the day that turned out better, but i’m still gonna have to tweak the art a little.
It’s not like color separation or trapping. it’s really just messin’ with hues and brightness/contrast. pretty basic and not tedious. a little time consuming, but simple.
my maximum print size is 16” wide by 53” tall. For the printer I use that is. There are others that have different sizes.

you can print on all those things with screen printing…
the main advantage is full color.
MIKS said about 1 year ago
yes full color is one advantage. no set up. no screen. no emulsion are some others.
This has become a learning session but not much has been said about the design.
Anyone got some criticism for the art?

I love it.

i think some designs look better printed out, and i think this is one of them. it looks less computer generated i guess. it kinda has a vintage feel to it when it’s printed, and i like that.
