what this thing needs is some context. On its own its not bad at all. The colors you picked for the squares are great and the tree silhouette fits great. Now what you need to think about is alternate garment colors and how that relates to the concept.
For instance: Go Green. Try changing the colors to shades of green (use a hue saturation mask in Photoshop and 'colorize' it) and put it on a creme or hemp colored shirt.
The other thing that pops into my mind is stained glass windows and the texture in each pain of glass. Search for some textures online (try sxc.hu) and incorporate those into your design.
What it needs ultimately is some depth and texture.
