yep. It would look cool if he was more subtle. Basically you're not just hitting people over the head with Travis Bickle. Instead they'd be forced to look at it for a second or two. Maybe even add some texture to him, like a halftone (as njonas suggested) or something a little more unique.
In the movie he says "Someday a real rain will come and wash all the scum off the streets". maybe make lines like a heavy falling rain in the shirt's color over his face.
Like everyone else, I like the front, not so much the back... maybe if it had 'stick to your guns' on the front it would make it better...just a thought. I'd wear it though!
straight discharge on black shirts tends to be more of a cream color then white.
