Pretty Poison

posted 11 months ago by heavyprints

Pretty Poison image

Edit: Made some changes to the original design from suggestions.

This is one of a number of designs I’ll be doing for a personal line where the theme will be: Beauty used as a mechanism for delivery of something undesirable.

I’ve attempted to take into consideration guidance I’ve been given by folks here in the past. Subtle guidance such as “Where are her legs?”, and “I thought it was a delicious loaf of whole grain christ bread”. So, yeah. Any comments are appreciated as I’m still learning the basics of design and illustration.

The part directly between her legs? I struggled with making it look how I wanted there. I think maybe I should just restart that section. Thanks for the input.

Is that a bad thing? I don’t think I follow.

i agree about the one between her legs, it could be taken somewhat as something going into her too. maybe you could have it just go behind her. one other thing, if your going to be printing it is that it looks like an 8 color or 4 color process with white base which might be costly and probably wouldnt look as good as the spot colors. i think its a cool design though and maybe even bigger or the green head thing on the right being higer than the other controlling more space?

I’m thinking about having the skeleton roll back behind her leg rather than coming up directly between her legs. I think that might solve my current problems.

As far as the printing – I figured it’d be 4 color process plus an underbase. I print DTG so that’s basically all I do, but this is already far too large for my printer. Maybe do the white underbase with no highlight then do a spot color on the green? Not sure, yet.

I’ll play around with the placement on the head some. Thanks!

this is so pretty. i agree with changing the position of the vertebrae. my only other suggestion is to give the lady standing up the flowing hair instead of the one sitting down.

Thanks! I worked really hard on it. I’ll try her with longer hair, when I work on the snake.

any reason for excluding them? other than the mannequin style look?

I don’t want it to be mature content. I mean, I really just don’t want the average person to see it and the sexual material detract from the overall artwork.

When I intially was thinking about the design, I visualized them as god(dess)-like creatures. So I don’t think it’s really important that they follow the human aesthetic very closely. They were originally going to have a small village at their feet. lol

Updated design. Still no nipples or tassels, sorry. I’m not sold on the tall one having longer hair..otherwise I like it better, though.

controls the space better i think, nice improvements. that background print starting out black looks pretty sick too.

Thanks man. I tried a bunch of different variations on the placement and dead center symmetrical seemed to be the best for me. Also, it was kind of hard to see the detail because I did the linework more as shading and then used a light color for it. The dark color helps it to be more easily visible.

Now I just have to figure out how I’m going to print it lol

does job for a cowboy know you’re ripping off their humans wearing ram skulls on their heads deal?

  19. heavyprints - Nick avatar

    heavyprints said 11 months ago

Say what? Someone has trademarked ram skulls on heads? That’s not possible.

Edit: It definitely pisses me off when you work hard on something and someone tells you it’s a ripoff for no reason. So I felt the need to point out that ‘Job For A Cowboy’ merch is not the first to use ram skulls on peoples heads, nor will they be the last. I mean the ram skull has tons of usage as demonic imagery.

I guess all of these people are ripping off some band I’ve never heard of, too:

and here’s the JFAC stuff..which I don’t think my image even remotely resembles..wtf:

I just did a google search for ‘human body ram skull’ or something like that and posted to top results.

Sorry if I came off like a dick.. I guess thats just part of the ‘tone’ of things not being able to come across on the internet. I had no clue you were joking, and I really have been busting my ass trying to become better as a designer.

the shirt looks really wide, so it seems like the whole design wouldnt be on the shirt or it wouldnt go as long as it does in the mockup, know what i mean? it doesnt seem like the dimensions have been fitted for the shirt.

I mostly print on Jerzees shirts - so that’s what I had handy when I took a picture for my mock-ups. They’re cut wider than the slim-fit shirts most people post up on here. It might be a plus size? I don’t remember.
