I have been toying with the idea of starting my own line for a number of years. My 9-5 job is not really giving me what I want out of life anymore, so I am going to take the plunge and launch my own t-shirt brand – Trix Teas. My label will be a blend of clean simple graphics, traditional english humor and spiced up with a little pinch of danger. To give you a taste of what's in store please take a look at one of my initial designs "The Flying Feathers Cockfighting Club" which will form part of my first batch of tees. Believe it or not I had not heard of JC when I first started on the name and icon for my line, JC is not that well known over here in the UK compared to his fame in the US. The idea behind my company name and logo is that I was trying to encapsulate traditional England as well as having an edgy danger feel to the logo. I thought that a good old cup of tea in the shape of a scull and crossbones was a nice way of doing this — added with the strap line "trouble's brewing" which I hope brings the whole idea together. That said since I have started visiting blogs and sitesto research t-shirts its pretty hard to not come across the legendary Mr Cupcakes – but I hope that as my brand launches and grows it will be clear that I am trying to do something a bit different and have a clear vision of how i am going to (fingers crossed) do this — that said if I can have a fraction of his success that will be OK with me! However, I don't think that it's necessarily negative. I don't think anyone is going to mistake this for JC, which is a good thing. If you mean what packages do I use – I design all my tees in Adobe Illustrator. If you were asking how do I think of the ideas, thats is a tough question to answer – I get inspiration from all sorts of weird and wonderful places, I guess its just about having fun and trying to produce designs that you are proud of and that you hope others might enjoy as well.
