Do you normally submit all your work in full color and full size print? Or do you ask if it’s a possibility? I normally have such small guidelines when I work with bands cause they hardly ever can afford anything over 3 colors and bigger than 13”x17”.

No not all the time. I do admit I’m having a fun full-color kick right now. I still look at your designs and oogle over how you got it so simplified into just 2 or 3 colors.

Well, ever since Jimmy showed me how to color separate a full color image, it seems like anything is possible.

And sometimes I just say “fuck it” to limitations. Initially, what got me started doing stuff in full color, the client said “use as many colors as you want, full color is fine.” So then I thought, hmm. If they can do it, then it must be able to be done.

I mean, it’s not like full color full body shirts are impossible to do, like Skull With Hair showed that rad Pantera shirt.

Although, I’m probably building a reputation of designing shirts that are impossible to print. I don’t know if that’s good or bad.

And a good color seperator can take a full color image and screen print it.

But I hate it when I design something and it never sees print because it was too ambitious or nobody knew how to print it. That’s not an excuse! :-D

And about the 13”x17” limit, you gotta hook up your bands with some different printers. That’s pretty small really. There are independent dudes that will print bigger than that and are cheap. Shout Out Loud prints for example.

Thanx, I will see if those bands can go to another printer. Sometimes they are stubborn and don’t like to get out of their comfort zone with stuff like that. I wanna start doing a lot more full color prints. I think it just intimidates the bands at first. But screw it! I’ll make them get it printed full color!! (shaking fist)
