I drew this and cleaned it up on Illy. It is my first time drawing an idea and tracing it on the computer. It was a good learning process. :)
It would be a 3 color screen print on a heather gray tee.
I would really appreciate any comments for the design. I was hopping to submit it to Sam Beam (Iron and Wine) for a tee design. He wasn’t asking, but I think it would be a sweet shirt. Is that lame to submit a tee design when they aren’t asking for one?
EDIT: I sent the design to his label and to his myspace. We will see how it goes!

I don’t think pitching a design to someone not expecting it is lame at all. You just have to find the right person to talk to. I was actually thinking of working something up and pitching it as well.

No. Not lame. You should go for it.

Call me!
It so nice!

Yeah man, do it. You could cut it down to a 2 color if you do halftone black ink for the dark gray. money saver and it still looks good.
just a thought.

Awesome idea. I will play around with it!
Nice. When I contacted them, I felt more like a fanboy than an artist with a proposition. How do you be professional in this field of work? I have never really worked for clients outside of friends.

i think this is a cool idea and looks great so far. i think you need to keep in mind that your text is a string when you get into making your turns and angles. right now they come to a point when naturally they would be more rounded and loose. lose the ‘i’ dots too. i dont know if you want to go that literal, but it could make the illo look a lot better.

Hope this gets printed! I hate you for making me say “That is legit” in real life.

I will try some new lettering with a more literal string feeling. Thanks for the tip.
My job is done here. Haha.
