I am not impressed with the actual design of the new machine. Does anyone else think this is a step down? Also, no option for matte display....uhh wtf?
Im liking the hardware upgrades, I can actually settle for the actual Macbook without going to pro (thoughts?)
What is apple doing with this engineering focus? People have always forked over the extra for the design and name. And nvidea graphics who gives a shit, Mac has no games. ooo need for speed carbon lame. On a side note Im on my iBook g4 and it works fine, shareing a desk with my 2 month old iMac that needs to go into the shop for the second time. 2k lemon.

Ive had my iMac for what, 7 months now and I still havent got any problem with it.
The design of the new macbooks is a major step down.
Yeah Im still happy with it. I think mine is the only bad one in the bunch.
I was just commenting on what I saw in the watch the video thing. All engineers.
and I can tap click on my ibook track pad thats nothing new.

We sullied it on your behalf, but our initial impressions mostly positive: its small, incredibly, ridiculously solid feeling, and we actually dont hate the all-clicking trackpad much at all. (If your thumb muscle memory makes you click at the bottom where the button used to be, it works and feels pretty much the same.) Of course, the glare of the glass screen is a MAJOR issue for us, and will be pretty much forever. Theres just no way well be able to love it, so our eyes will be peeled for after-market add-ons to cut that down a bit. But in terms of the rest, its pretty clear this is the best MacBook -- and best mainstream consumer laptop -- Apples made to date.

Sorry bro, with blizzard coming out with D3, WoW TLK, SC2, WC4, and a new MMO. Ill deff be playing the best games on it.
I am kind of looking forward to getting one. I just need to work my entire life at my dads printing company in order to afford it. Or, I can invite 150 people to my graduation party. That works too. Either way, I would like one for college. By then, there might be a new one out?
quakerninja said: @ Mitch I had know Idea that there were games I would want to play for Mac. I take back what I said.
Its cool. Also, what is this twitter?
I think with Apple putting 9800*s in them, maybe more video game developers would want to publish games for it. It clearly has the power.
Im unsure if the difference between the new MB and the MBP justifiys the extra 800$+ cost. .6ghz? bigger HD? Id rather just spend $100 on a 1tb external. Thoughts?
meh. ill upgrade when i need to, but not going to rush. honestly, if i knew of a hack to install OS X on a pc, I would do it. if i can get something with a cheaper bottom line price, id do it.

There is a way to install some versions of OS X on Intel pased PCs, its a pain...but it can work.
In my opinion, just save the money and get a solid Mac computer that has everything running 100% with no head ache for you.
I have a macbook pro 17" with the intel core duo.... I love it dont get me wrong, but I wish I had the capability to expand it past 2 gigs of RAM. The new design and last design with the core 2 duo have expandable up to 4 gigs but I think with this new design they should have expanded it further to say 8 gigs capacity. Plus the hard drive max is not that impressive as an upgraded system to previous versions. Make someone who owns one want to upgrade for crying out loud!!! One last issue that I have with my laptop is over heating, they need to address and freaking kill that issue. Ive had my laptop for almost 2 1/2 years now and Ive gone through 2 logics boards, 3 batteries, and 2 power cords (they frayed) and thank god I purchased the 3 year apple protection plan. Anyone purchasing a new Mac is an idiot if they dont. My protection plan paid for itself about 20 tims over with all the repairs I needed.

yeah i have looked into it, and its not worth the trouble, yet. but i could get a computer with the same specs as what i have right now for 1,000 less (i have a second gen macbook), just by switching back to windows haha. oh well. like i said, mine works just fine for now.

I still <3 my "old" apple products!
New macs have been rumored to be announced in OCT for months... why rush the gun?

The key word there is "rumored".
And besides... before I bought my mac I knew virtually nothing about them. So I wouldnt call that rushing. I was just and still am fed up with pcs and the constant issues they have. Even when you know how to take care of a one... Its still no where near the non hassle ways of the all mighty mac!
Theyve actually taken a step backwards with processor speed on the new mac. The recent range were 2.1Ghz and 2.4Ghz. So the base spec Macbook now is less.
The graphics card with dedicated memory on the macbook is a good idea, but whhhhyyyyyy are they still continuing to put glossy screens on machines like the Macbook Pro?!?!?!?!

because im still within my 14 day return period. why not return it and get the newest version right now, instead of waiting and paying way more?
im not sure whether to get the older gen on clearance or the new one. my ibook g4 is still truckin' but getting a little tired as of late. what do you pros think?
Im a PC guy myself, but I really like the design. Ive always been a fan of apples hardware - but I still cant bring myself to pay over $2000 for a decent 15 inch.

The new "lip" on the lid is awesome. Im tired of prying open my Mac Book with my fingernails and placing my finger right on the iSight camera.

2" screen.
100gb more
An extra video card that I dont really need.

Really? That Apple "genius'" told me they only come in Glossy. hmmmmmm :/
aleph13 said about 1 month ago
The newer MBP is only glossy. One of the older designs is still current, and it has the option of glossy or antiglare.
