Pre ordering is a good way to get an idea of how many people are actually interested in what youre offering. Weve used pre-sales with all of our new releases and its worked out very well. I think its good to offer at least some kind of discount for the people who choose to buy during the pre order.

Cool, thats helpful. Whats the time period you normally allow until pre orders are closed and the tees are shipped?

If your like me, and your using Bigcartel, how do you go about processing Pre Orders and payment without the general populous mistaking that the product is officially on sale?
We actually have our own website so we are not limited to the BigCartel restrictions. What you could do is maybe have a corner banner that says "Pre Sale" and then simply include when the orders should ship in the description. Did I answer your question?

All except for how you process the orders. Just through paypal?

offer some discount or gifts for pre-orders.
Include in the description that it is 'pre-order' (and explain what that means)
put the shipping times up there to discourage: 'wheres me tee dude'.
hype hype hype like a demon.
my pre ordering of the killer napkins tee has gone very good so far - I gave it 30 days to see how many I could get in the period...
upto 26 online and 30 for BM stores...the tees are now printed ( 100 in total ) - next step is shipping - all the US tees are shipping direct from Jimmy and I need to have the rest shipped to me, before I can ship the rest...
Date of release was hard to stick to has im in the UK and tee printed in the US and had to fit into printers schedule which pushed it back a bit...
Only had 1 claim on paypal for non delivery - but explained it and claim was closed ( and the was even before the 30 days was up ) - 30 days are up now and its getting tight need to get these things shipping asap...
ps. I did all the stuff above: discount codes and full disclosure of what a pre sale is.

Thats awesome, did you just change the tee to "for sale" on your bigcartel site and explain to them that it would take a month to meet standards of production? My main thing now is figuring out how to process the pre orders.

Preorder is probably what ill be doing eventually. Great idea if done well, coz then at least youll hopefully have less dead stock lying around.
But yeah, just make sure you state its preorder in the description and put a date of release and stick to it.

big cartel takes care of processing your pre-orders, just like a regular order.

yes 100% on the tee description it was stated about PRE ORDER conditions and did orders like any other tee.
