Did you know that $6 million is being allocated as part of the Bailout Bill for "Kids Wooden Arrows" and $192 million for "Virgin Islands/Puerto Rican Rum"
Jim Quinn has some great points:
Read what he has to say about the new Bill
He quotes Ron Paul as saying,
"Whenever a Great Bipartisan Consensus is announced, and a compliant media assures everyone that the wondrous actions of our wise leaders are being taken for our own good, you can know with absolute certainty that disaster is about to strike. The events of the past week are no exception. The bailout package that is about to be rammed down Congress’ throat is not just economically foolish. It is downright sinister. It makes a mockery of our Constitution, which our leaders should never again bother pretending is still in effect. It promises the American people a never-ending nightmare of ever-greater debt liabilities they will have to shoulder."

haha pretty accurate. the hope bit reminds me: where are all the Obama supporters lately? Ever since the weak debates and his approval of the Bailout and its subsequent failure no one seems so keen on hyping his Hope and Change platform.

Whatchutalkinbout?
Obama is still our dude. After McCain picked Palin, and after the two debates and the VP debate -- we all just know that Obama is going to win now, so theres no need to talk about it.
Obama is calling for fines, firings, and floggings for those exploiting the bailout.
Im just glad that my president can give me a high five if I want it.

Forget the high five, I want a fist pump

soooooo what Obama wants is to reward bad decision makers by bailing them out and then punish them for making bad decisions? Thats just reinforcing their behavior and screwing America at the same time...
p.s. The Dow closed below 9000 today.

Heres what Obama had to say about the Bailout beforehand:
You dont support McCain though, do you? You are supporting a better choice alternative Republican / Independent who is running, right?
The people who are exploiting the bailout should be punished. If your mom couldnt pay her rent, and you had some money you could give her - and you went to her house and she had just gotten back from a weekend at a spa -- would you be mad? Would you demand that she pay you back?
Shes your own mother, but she should be held accountable, shouldnt she? That only makes sense.
We gave all this money to Wall Street after they fucked everything up because it was supposed to help the rest of us - who have our money in banks whose money is invested in the Stock Markets. They are supposed to pay it back. It is hardly a "reward" as youve put it. It is a way to keep the millions of Americans who have their money in the stock market from going broke.
My grandmothers retirement money is tied up in stocks and Money Markets. Luckily she hasnt been horribly effected yet, but the woman doesnt have a lot of money. Shes a retired RN. Because of the stupid decisions the Wall Street moguls have made, should she be punished?
But when we bail these guys out, and one particular company take all of the CEOs and higher paid members of their business to a $400,000 vacation just days after reaping the benefits of the bailout bill - they need to be held accountable.
What youre saying is that youd rather they not be punished? Just let them go on doing whatever they want? It isnt reinforcing their horrible actions and behavior - it is handing down punishment for it. They should be stripped of their jobs, and made an example of. Lets see how they feel dealing with the same issues that so many of the people we know are facing.

This was on the 21st so its great to hear about these new 'rules of the road' but which ones made it into the revised Bill? (no sarcasm, Im having trouble finding them)
Decisive action couldve waited 2 weeks for a better bill, were seeing that nothings changed except AIGs getting vacations.
One thing that has bugged me is why a junior Senator was in on that closed door meeting with McCain and Pelosi etc.? I asked this in a previous post...
I dont think anything in the bill is good and Obama was ok with it from the start. A few slaps on the wrist after the fact cant prevent anything. Essentially all they did was attach it to another bill that was pending. We couldve gotten all those breaks without the bailout.
cajun metal said about 1 month ago
No they should be punished. Their banks should fold. If Im running a business and I run it into the ground I dont deserve a bailout no matter who has invested in me. Thats too bad about your grandma and it isnt her fault that they made bad decisions. like I said above the bailout was attached to a pending bill that already contained the breaks that may be helping her now in the shadow of the bailout so to speak.

p.s. heres some stuff about that pending bill. It was the only way tax reform could be introduced by the Senate in order to keep the Bailout bill alive without violating the Constitution. underhanded...
