there are these things I think they sell on dickblick for that very purpose.. it’s like a piece of plastic that stands sort of like a small table, and you rest your hand on the plastic to avoid touching your drawing.

Yeah Id be fine with it if I was going to be digitalizing it but Im going for a pencil sketch present as present and im hoping it ends up as smudge free as possible
