<body>"WHAT DO YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT..." is a question I'll be asking you more often. This time, I'm asking it about Manga Studio.

I plan on restarting my video tutorial series with a better eye on production values and more specific content targeted towards learning. I have an obligation to make a Manga Studio video for a certain site that a lot of y'all frequent, so, I thought I'd ask.

What questions do you have about Manga Studio? I've been using it for four years and am still learning stuff every day...</body>

<body>You're seriously a godsend. The already-existing videos are amazing so I can't wait for more.

This request is not as technical, but a process I'd love to see is the taking your final product (that is of course if you do all of the linework and coloring there) out of Manga and importing it to wherever it is...basically your process of making a print-ready final product after Manga. This may be a simple process to most but I have trouble maintaining the look I create in Manga after I import it elsewhere.</body>

If you're able to say about any big differences between EX4 and Debut 4 then i think a lot of people would love it, purely because Debut 4 is massively more affordable.</body>

<body>This sounds great, Ray. Looking forward to seeing the new vids.

My only question (which I don't think you can do with manga, cause I've searched the ends of the internet) is can you make the canvas larger once you've started working. For instance if I'm working at 11 x 15 and realize my illustration my go off the edge. Is there a way to change it to say 14 x 17? I've just been scaling my work down a little for the extra room (which I think works because of the fact of working in bitmap). but is their a better solution?

Sorry for the lengthy description.</body>

I always just create a new 14x17 file and drag my layers(in ps and ai) over to the new bigger canvas. I think that is what you meant anyways. :) Sorry for the thread hack. I am stoked on some more of your videos Ray.</body>

I export each Manga layer as a BMP, trace it with Potrace, and assemble those layers again in Illustrator. I re-apply my colors to match my original document and, voila, done.

If a client is fine with high res PSDs instead of vectors, I just export a PSD with each of the spot colors on a layer.</body>

I get a copy of both thanks to the beta process, but I ever only installed EX 4. With 3, there were a few comic specific functions missing. For the average illustrator, not stuff you'd miss. If 4 Debut has the perspective ruler, you're good to go. If not, that's worth the extra dough.</body>

Yes. Change your layer type to Gray (8Bit). No more dithering. I recommend this for pencil layers and painterly layers only - linework should be kept on a black and white layer.</body>

The only way is to copy and paste your artwork from one file to another at the new size. Or, you could export a PSD file and import that PSD file back into a new, properly sized file.</body>

It's not that long. I have a folder action setup that, when BMP files get dropped into it, automagically runs a command line script to trace them, save EPS files, and trash the BMPs. So, all I'm left with is my six or so EPS files.

I work at 11"x16.53" @ 1200dpi. Most of the time, my PSD file is more than adequate and I don't have to provide vector art.</body>

This.

I've seen some of the illustrations in your site have stippled gradient techniques applied to them. Do you do this in Manga Studio, or in Photoshop? I can figure it out in PS, but if they were done in MS, i'd love to see how you do them.

I hope I'm not too late in asking. </body>

<body>i dont think this has been covered but i have a big question/major problem for you.

Do you ever bother to use the paint bucket in Manga Studio?

I sometimes like to lay down quick colors using the bucket (then tweak them later in photoshop) for images that I know will not need to be separated. But every time I accidentally use the bucket on something OUTSIDE of my lineart, it takes about 10 minutes to load a fill that colors in the entire background. And then another 10 minutes to undo what my mistake. (Does that make sense?)

Oh man i've wasted SO MUCH time because of this. It's the biggest pain in the ass. I guess I could just not color in manga studio and avoid the problem altogether. :/ </body>
