Some 17 year old kid keeps messaging on Myspace. At first he was asking about the design scene and web design so I figured Id give him whatever pointers I could. But now he wont stop lecturing me on how $18 is too expensive a price to sell shirts and that I should aim to sell shirts at a much lower price cuz some electroartist called Nickasaur sells his shirts for $15. Which I should do because this guy is ridiculously famous and sells his shirts for cheap. I mean I even linked the kid to Emptees resource on how to price shirts and dude still wont shut up about how $18 is "too expensive".

Nickasaur looks gay as hell.

Thats what I thought when I first looked at it. Oh and hes comparing a 5 color graphical tee to 1 color huge type tee . . . I dunno I just want to vent so badly.
DrewGliever said 3 months ago
as much as I just want to flame that retard out of his mind, Ill resist and try to offer the best advice I can;
The good majority of your potential customers are going to be just like that guy, so I think you have one of two options: either lower your prices, or convince them that your tees are worth the extra buck due to the time and quality put into them.
Its a sad world when the customer is always right, especially when it comes to assholes like that. Luckily you can manipulate their tiny minds into doing what you want. :)

Its a one color print that took about 2 seconds to come up with that shit isnt even worth $15
"Crazy" Mike said 3 months ago
No thats the thing I kept trying to explain to him, that and I had more colors, production costs, and I kinda did want to say that I spent hours working on my design and as Jon says his example looks like it took 2 seconds to think up but before I could do that he sent this response . . .
"you know what brah?
nvm youre obviously getting ticked that no one has bought your shirt probably because of the price and the lack representation and or word about it I was trying to help but you just are not trying to comprehend what im trying to say im basically a customer and youve just swatted away at everything ive said how does that help you? not at all.. but like i said man whatev cuz you just dont seem to care and maybe you should have thought about starting out simple instead of blowing out all that money you know? yeah you have 5 colors, but your brand is unproven..so whats that leave you with?.."
As much as I tried to be civil and answer his questions . . . this kid was really ticking me off towards the end . . .
DrewGliever said 3 months ago
well in that case, hes probably just a little idiot that wanted to stir your shit and never intended on buying a tee anyway.
haha your brand is unproven? what in the hell does that have to do with how sw33t your tees is? probably one of those douchey kids that runs out and buys up all the big brand names he can without even looking at the design.
fuck im

I HATE THAT NICKASAUR KID
hes like the ultimate myspace whore
"Crazy" Mike said 3 months ago
Ive never even heard of him prior to this . . .
DrewGliever said 3 months ago
he certainly looks like a douche.
Dave!PTS said 3 months ago
That Nicksaur guy looks like a complete wiener.
And im pretty sure this..
is a little too close to Richs company Priority..
Perudoesitbetter said 3 months ago
haha, wow how rediculous
Im glad I dont have to explain myself to someone like that, and you shouldnt either. Sounds like he was trying to just stir up stuff.
I value opinions from anybody especially the supposed "consumer" but when they are so ill informed about the process that goes into the work is when theyre opinions lose weight. Im not saying that every potential customer should be breifed on every aspect of the design process before purchasing but they should at least understand when it is explained to them; at the very least.
hideouscarwreck said 3 months ago
i really wish we could dicknose him.
also - how the hell did this kid get on itunes?!
Perudoesitbetter said 3 months ago
I doubt $18 is really that much, maybe to some. But ive been selling one of my tees for 25 and its been going out. To be honest most of my orders are going over seas too, it could be the euro...haha
DrewGliever said 3 months ago
damn near anyone can get on itunes now.. some type of fee or something, probably.
p.s. add - myspace.com/designbydrew
hideouscarwreck said 3 months ago

Yeah when I first tried to settle on a price I look at what threadless/hot topic/ and what you guys charged and settled on something that seemed fair and not too overtly expensive since I noticed the people that know about us now are broke high school/college students so I tried to keep the price as fair as possible.
Perudoesitbetter said 3 months ago
Yeah broke high school students, sounds like most of our demographic here. Which isnt a bad thing because most of them do hype stuff up when they are interested but sometimes they just got no money.
"Crazy" Mike said 3 months ago
whoa . . . I dunno how I forgot to type the word college cuz that was what the / was for . . . cuz I got this one die hard fan who was the only one to buy the cafe press stuff we used to offer and shes in college. But yeah I try to appeal in a range of high school aged to people in their mid 20's(since my own age is around there).
whalebone said 3 months ago
tell him where to shove it, b.
quakerninja said 3 months ago
Simple raise the price of the tee to $25. Tell him the $18 was the friend price, and you were doing a promotion. That was a $7 discount he just walked away from.
"Crazy" Mike said 3 months ago
No he clearly said he was broke at some point . . . so I knew I wasnt gonna make a sale off him . . . Im more or less annoyed that he was trying to tell me how to run my company and wouldnt accept my explanation on why things are run how they are. And I dont get why he feels so blown off because I dont compare myself to this Nickasaur loser. Cuz honestly that guy said this prior to his statement above . . .
"really?
you didnt understand?
i was pointing out the shirt price?
and then i explained who nickasaurus was..thats all.
really dude? was that so hard?
like freal i was saying that even he doesnt price near $20 and the kid is famous
which prolly leads to people buying his LOW priced shirt
15 looks low compared to 18
and youll have the same crowd as he does
if you didnt understand what i was saying..."
Dude if I had the same crowd of these people that listen to this Nickasaur dude Id fucking kill myself(mauled by a bear/shot a couple time and hit by a bus . . . I dunno something epic). Cuz I dunno I dont feel like having Crazy Go Lucky pander solely to "stupid teenagers/scene kids" . . .
skibtz said 3 months ago
If it is a good tee then the customer will pay whatever to have it. If the kid wants the tee then he should get a paper round.
You guys arent being fair with the whole hating Nickasaur deal.
Unless I missed something he was just mentioned by the annoying customer. The kid seems harmless enough just having some fun.
Feck. I wish all this MySpace shit was about when I was a kid. :(
jaynajaynajayna said 3 months ago
Theres barely a difference between $15 and $18.
Plus high school kids have no excuse to be broke, you live with mommy, get a job to buy your ring pops or whatever
sockmonkee said 3 months ago
this is the garbage gomedia is bloggin' about
remove "nickasaur" from of your head and do your thing. the whole $15 thing is a joke and youll live a miserable design life if you choose to compete w/ this kid.
Mr.Stan Geek said 3 months ago
Also that Nickasaur wears baby cakes, you should not write back to them they have no style
Simply Complicated said 3 months ago
Im in high school... I pay 30-40 for my tees, this kid is just broke or he just doesnt know what he is talking about ha
