Printer’s going rate on American Apparel blanks?

posted 3 months ago by Secret Agenda

What is a [fair] going rate on American Apparel blanks from a printer? I am thinking about just letting my printer order the blanks instead of doing it myself as long as it is not a ridiculous markup. I want to know so I don’t get hosed!

the best way not to get hosed is to order from AA yourself and have them shipped directly to your printer.

depends on how many pieces..and you have to factor shipping..

i’ve seen anywhere between $2 and up..

Well I plan on printing soon, and some of the business documents that I will need to get a AA wholesale account won’t arrive for quite some time still (the state NEVER rushes). That is why I wanted to know about the printers rate.

i can buy AA through tsc, and a fine jersey shirt costs #3.29 i think, and in general we mark up 50% but thats to people who are ordering like school shirts and such, and they don’t normally use AA.
talk to your printer and ask if he’ll buy them wholesale for you just so you don’t have to buy and have them shipped to him.

That’s interesting... Often times AA denies wholesale accounts unless you are a screenprinter.

I think that is what is happening to me. They really are putting me through alot. AAA only needed a few pieces of info, but AA wants more documentation!

yeah, even if you give them your EIN or taxpayer ID, American Apparel reviews it and eventually denies the wholesale application unless you are printing on the blank tees yourself.

I just get them through my screen printer, they’re included in the price.

maybe they’ve changed the process of the last few years...i set up my account with AA like 3 years ago.

so just tell them you are a screenprinter, you have a machine in your garage or something.

and i don’t see why they would be difficult when opening new accounts...as long as you are a business...they want to sell the product.
