Apple & Firewire

posted 4 months ago by mikejahn

So I am currently, as I am typing this, transfering information over to this mac from another mac using Target Disk Mode using firewire. It got me thinking....did Apple invent firewire for this purpose but then it expanded to other uses such as capturing video and anything that USB can basically do?

anyone know?

firewire is faster than usb i have no idea what exactly it was meant for. but essentially it’s meant to transfer data at a higher speed.
i was pissed when the new ipods didn’t support firewire.

I actually just did this myself to transfer some stuff back to my macbook. And I never realized that I could have been using the firewire cable with my external HD the whole time.

Apple REinvented firewire by making the cable white.
