what's the going rate for logo design?

i realize it depends on a few factors.

for someone who is just starting to design...
what could one ask for logo design considering they are not a professional design firm?

   Price it on the time you spend rather than the job itself. Decide how much an hour of your time is worth and go from there, though obviously you have to bear in mind who it is you're designing for as some myspace band aren't gonna have a lot of loot to kick about.

   Logo design/branding can (and perhaps should) be really time consuming in the ideas/development stage.

   If hes just starting out and it is really really basic then i dont think that is too little but if his skills are good and the design is worth it then of course you could be looking at $1000+

    yeah man try $500 - $1000 AT LEAST

    of course there are several different variables that come into play, but keep in mind this is branding ie: they will be using this as the visual representation of their company

    also, be sure to always spell out how many rounds of revisions your quote covers. including a byline for additional charges after xx rounds is always good.
