printers/samples question

posted 4 months ago by GhostmakerAZ

I was wondering when printers will usually do samples?

Like if i was going to have 6 different shirts printed at once, about 80 to 100 of each one. Would that be enough for the printers to give me samples before I spend a couple grand or do I need like 500 of each shirt?

I don’t think there is a certain number you would have to order to get samples because the outcome could always be the same, the printer does the work and then doesn’t get the job. I think you would need to agree to a kill fee to get samples. An amount of money you will pay whether you take the job or not. Plus a printer would probably have no problem sending you samples or pictures of previous shirts he’s done so you can get a feel for their quality so you know what you are getting into.

one thing id maybe do is use a local printer and ask them to do the shirts on a day you could get down there to check out the first set up prints before they run the whole job. that way if you need to change a color or whatever you can do it before they run the job. running samples is a pain because it is a lot of set up and then ties up the screens til they get the ok.

Here at MerchDirect we will do samples for you no matter how large or small the job is. The only catch is we charge $50 for the sample plus the cost of films/screens. If you approve the sample, you’ve already paid for the films and the screens. It’s worth it if you are really worried about the quality of the work of a company you haven’t worked with before or if it is a complicated design.

If I ever make orders of over 100, I will definitely start ordering samples.
