its kind of cluttered.. the sections should also have a thumbnail, this site is basically a massive group of text...

any price lists? I dont know much about design or web thingys- but shouldnt what you do and what you offer be at the forefront of the information? I could be and usually am - wrong.

+1, you could probly even get away with just spacing the elements a bit more. Everything looks all smushed to the left

We dont really publish price lists. Weve definitely considered it before, though.

There are a lot of ins and outs to web sites. Everyone wants something different, so we use the portfolio as just that- a portfolio of our work to use for reference. Whether its to our customers who have no idea what they want, or someone looking around to see who worked on the new Johnny Cupcakes site (and stumbling upon our work), either way- pricing is never the same between two projects.
As a matter of fact, the only type of sites I can give flat rate pricing on, are band sites (for the most part). As we all know, once Myspace came around, the demand for those has drastically decreased.

i owe you a shirt, i meant to come visit you on the second day of bamboozle.

... yeah they did, and i second the quoting web projects. Its near impossible to quote two people the same price because every project is different and everyone wants something different.
jared said 4 months ago
Not to mention- as a business, you really do yourself a disadvantage by posting rates online, in my opinion.
The amount of people who dont see a price list and take their business elsewhere is much lower than the amount of people who will submit for a quote anyways.

... exactly, we dont list our prices (well, we dont even have a site up yet, haha) But we like being able to talk with all our clients to really nail down exactly what they want. Its a great way to start the business relationship and hash out exactly what they need so that you can give them a much more accurate quote.
(i know you know this stuff, haha, but just for anyone breaking into the web design world that might actually be on a tee site)

I dont think any of the designers on this site would prefer posting $150 t-shirt design prices on their web site and risk the $200-300 average that could rake in if they custom quoted each client.
I remember when we used to charge pennies for band sites back in the day. Our quality of work has gone WAY up, so were able to charge more. Not to mention the volume we handle and our teams efficiency has improved.
Its a very fun industry to be involved in. I love this job!

As do I, haha, dont get me wrong I love doing tshirt design but I love projects that you can watch grow and evolve... hence why I try and do more web design / album art than anything else. I like seeing it take time to grow.

We get waves of merchandise design coming through StudioAKT. The majority of our time (and labor) is spent on programming larger-scale web sites. Design is the fastest part of our entire model.
Its cool, though.
