<body>Unplug it. Take the battery out. Hold the power button down for around 30 seconds. This will drain all the power out of the machine. Plug it back in and give it a try.

It's never happened to my macbook, but my wife's dell and that worked. Anytime my macbook acts like that, I just hold the power down until it shuts off then I turn it back on and everything's good.</body>

dell's are a lot different than macbook's. but:

rich.a, if you put the screen up to a light, can you see what's on the screen? if so, the backlight might of just went out, if not: the screen might have went.</body>

All my keys did seem to work at first. Then, it just kept turning off. It still makes the bootup sound and I can hear the computer working, then It just shuts off.

Did you recently upgrade your firmware? About a couple days after I upgraded my Firmware, it started having this problem. BUT since my MBP has been out of warranty for over a year now, I'm screwed. I guess I'll just have to buy a used MacBook. *sigh*</body>

They usually do. I spilt coke on mine, the whole thing died. A day later, it started working, but only through the mains. A month later, the battery starts working again! They take a battering, but mine finally gave in. I just hope it's only my hard drive that's fucked, seen as I back up most of my stuff</body>
