Take the battery out. Hold the power button down for around 30 seconds. This will drain all the power out of the machine. Plug it back in and give it a try. It's never happened to my macbook, but my wife's dell and that worked. Then, it just kept turning off. It still makes the bootup sound and I can hear the computer working, then It just shuts off. Did you recently upgrade your firmware? About a couple days after I upgraded my Firmware, it started having this problem. BUT since my MBP has been out of warranty for over a year now, I'm screwed.
