2nd is my fav. The colors on these are looking great, especially for paper. What are you using? Prismacolor?

The colors are amazing but for vectoring I would keep the sketches black and white, so that live trace doesnt kill them, the only thing to be cautious of are pesky gaps, and expect the lines to be thickened about 5-10% Live trace treats color like a virus and will attack without mercy. Side effects include hair loss and heartache, premature aging, and festering depression. Here is an example from my work flow.

Poser 7 render of baby/print and trace with ink/scan and trace with illustrator/ color and add other elements.

lol actually i use gelly roll gel pens i know its kinda gay but i love how smooth they go down and the interesting thing about some of these pens is they change color or glow under a black light

dude live trace can screw up your illustration when going to print sometimes, the only good tracing method to use that i have found fool proof is vector magic which does an amazing job and doesnt mess up your lines like Illustrator does, but then again the best tracing is path by path ha I hate live trace its so crappy for tracing to me, I tried tracing a straight black and white image with no midtones or halftones and it still came out crap

I used to use jelly rolls all the time when they first came out. You should definitely look into Prismacolor Markers, though. Use the jellies for your linework if you must, but inking will be 1000x faster with the markers, and they wont leave stroke stripes like other brands.

some creatures would be a hit, I would buy one. as far as starting out. what did you have in mind. even a small run 100 shirts 1 color single plasement will run a fair amount with no garantee of sales. I would start with vectorizing a trial design doing some mock ups and some reading around here and the other forums. My first run ran about $440 for the shirts, than add buttons, a business license and vender fees and some set up gear, banner, canopy, table, racks ect. all before my first gig next month. (also give aways to friends and family)
anyway you have friends here so long as you dont freak out on us, or do something stupid like underpay or yoink a design. My point is that you have to be realistic, committed 100% and understand that success can be a slow bitch sometimes.

those gelly pens are just ball point right? you are laying down massive amounts of ink and tons of passes to pull it off. it would probably be better for you to move to paint pens for base colors and a good black sharpie and fine point for the black.

Yeah, Vector Magic is actually really good. And its pretty easy to touch-up the trace it does using Vector Magics abnormal editing tools.

As talanted grafitti artists i would suggest you to try to make custom mesh/trucker caps.
j3concepts said 5 months ago
Can I suggest not using livetrace or vector magic (ive used both) or any of that stuff and actually redrawing them? itll take alot of more time, but the final product will be worth it. also the colours are great, just with those designs you might want to spend the extra cash and get them huge on the tee, possibly off the edges.

You can also scan it into Photoshop at the size you want, find the channel that that isolates the black best (I used the Blue Channel in RGB mode for that here), stamp it, work it, whatever you gotta do youll have your outline. Repeat that for the colors and youll end up with a seperation for a simulated process print. I dont know if youre going to print it that way though. But thats one way to isolate colors. My example looks like ass: a nice scan of at least 300 dpi is better to work from than a photo but you get the idea

ok here is the thing i am a poor collage student and i have none of these programs and on top of that i run a mac so...anyone know where i can get em for free?
and i alos like the second one but the problem is our company is called Greens and the drawing is missing the S kinds gay....
cajun metal said 5 months ago
If youre talking about the thing I did thats just to give you a rough idea of what you can do with channels in Photoshop. If youre calling it kinda gay then I should remind you that it came from your drawing not mine. Just trying to help
