it is so awesome but its gay taht only at&t gets it, a phone like this needs verizon :) which would be smarter for them anyways if they didnt want people unlocking them i swear apple is so dumb sometimes

If there was one thing i wanted when the iPhone was first released, it was to be on Verizon. Unfortunately, it was Verizon who declined, not Apple. Then Apple decided to go with AT&T. If it would have been on Verizon, the internet on the iPhone 1.0 would have been faster than the upcoming 3G speeds. Why? because Verizons data transfer is EV-DO. comparably, you could call it 4G. I have mixed feelings about it, but for me, id rather have this device than stay on Verizon. Thats why im switching to Cingular.

Randomentity said 5 months ago
I bet verizon is kicking their own ass now
Simply Complicated said 5 months ago
yah they are, i dont know why they would turn this down. in my opinion the voyager is a p.o.s. compared to the iphone
TrumanK said 5 months ago
TRUE
THAT.

I can DEFINITELY relate to the headphone issue...
I got some Bose headphones last Christmas and couldnt even use them with the damn thing.

Im getting on in September
I just want them to fucking take care of picture messaging AH
njonas said 5 months ago
im definitely getting one of these, probably in september too
TrumanK said 5 months ago
why september?
Nate said 5 months ago
I am getting one on July 11th and am stoked!
Although I do agree with you this is a legitimate problem- isnt the whole iPhone experience using the internet? Why not send an email with a picture in it?

Ive had the 2g iphone since it came out and Im excited for an upgrade. Ill hopefully be getting my 24" imac around the same time assuming all of my jobs follow through. heh. Overall, Im fairly pleased with it and the price drop is great. They are now selling the iphone all over which will constitute the price reduction.
ThinkBaker said 5 months ago
Are the sweet new apps going to be able to be a free upgrade for us previous Iphone owners???

ive had my 3g samsung blackjack for 2 years and i love it. i dont understand whats the biggie about the 3g iphone when 3g has been available on other phones for a really long time.
i dont like the texting on the iphone thats why i wont get it. sooo uncomfortable.
Nate said 5 months ago
Yup. But iPod touch users cost 9.99 i think.
TrumanK said 5 months ago
really? I love typing on it. The correction, the letter magnifying, the deleting... all of those are wayy smarter on the iPhone than on any other smartphone or pda ive used.
gengen said 5 months ago
on my blackjack i can type with both thumbs really really quickly. with the iphone its difficult to type fast because you can only do it with one finger at a time. the letters get all confused most of the time even though you have spell check. the black jack has a small keyboard like the blackberry and sidekick. its just more comfortable for me. maybe its a matter of getting used to with the iphone?
TrumanK said 5 months ago
Im pretty sure that with the sdk released, you will be able to type on the iPhone sideways, enabling two-finger typing. At least i hope so : ]
Robert Ottinger said 5 months ago
iPhone 3G is where its at. I will be purchasing one as soon as I can!
Randomentity said 5 months ago
it took me a good week to get used to typing, but now i can type with just one thumb pretty quickly, and ive trained the spell check really well.
i hope theres a "trade-up" option so i can trade my 4gb one in for a sexy new 8gb 3G.

Is it wrong to not care about 3G or GPS? My old 1.0 iPhone is so perfect for me I cant see me needing anything else.
Plus I like the silver back on it!
Im more excited about me.com I think.

Why not to get an iPhone
haha, this thread reminded me of this article.
Hands On Clothing said 5 months ago
I wouldnt recommend an iPhone to anyone, Apple are definatly behind the market leaders on this one;
- You cant forward a text message.
- You cant view any flash sites.
- MMS is a nogo!
- Contracts are stupid, i pay £55.00 + VAT (17.5% tax) for my contract, and it includes little.
- You cant record audio/videos
- You look like a retard walking down the street with the handsfree system as it looks like regular earphones..
- Large images wont load on Safari.
- The built-in-iPod lacks features that a normal iPod has like "search."
- The screen freezes a lot and i often cant take calls cause it has frozen (last example of this was yesterday.)
If they cant provide a quality product on round 1, why would i buy one in round 2?
I hate to say it, but i probably would. *sigh*
EDIT: added currency.
gengen said 5 months ago
exactly. i dont ever go on youtube and already have an ipod i only use at work, so yeah. i dont see how this thing is so cutting edge.
Hands On Clothing said 5 months ago
Yeah, youtube sucks on an iphone, even if your connected to WiFi, the video will struggle to load, its such a bad phone. If i could go back, id get the n95, actually id probably get that now.
brotel said 5 months ago
agreed and my crappy err.. rare 30 gig photo iPod lol
Hands On Clothing said 5 months ago
30gb Photos are rare? i hope so, ive got one of those badboys!
chrisrushing said 5 months ago
there is no comparison in usability ....
iphones have the market now and there is nothing that can compete at the moment.
its totally worth it. im stoked to get one.
it may suck in the uk but a number of friends have it and nothing on it is slow or works bad. youtube plays just fine here.
Hands On Clothing said 5 months ago
o2 customers due an upgrade (£45 contract+)can have a free iPhone as soon as it comes out - just got told that in the shop thought it was worth sharing
nicolerork said 5 months ago
Does anyone know why Verizon declined the iPhone? Wasnt it some stupid reason too? Something like they couldnt sell it in their stores, only in Apple stores?
Im debating whether or not to get the new 3G. Ive got a Sidekick and a Verizon phone. Maybe I can replace the SK with the 3G.
TrumanK said 5 months ago
I believe it was because Verizon wanted a bigger cut than Apple was willing to give them.
DesiredHearts said 5 months ago
i really wish they would fix the picture messaging issue. anyone know why it doesnt do it?
TrumanK said 5 months ago
Not me. But i DID find this
mission_alphaville said 5 months ago
is there any way you can get one to jailbreak?
TrumanK said 5 months ago
We should know within a week after the 11th.
