I am curious about what people pay for stuff in other parts of the country / world.
If youre into it, share!
Make sure you say where you live.

hahah I am in the process of collecting rent from all of my roommates right now.
I pay $450/month for half of a master bedroom with bathroom, and a basement workshop and office and storage, so I cant complain.

In Tampa, a 1200 square foot apartment goes for between $1100-1500 per month.
You can buy a 2000 square foot house in a residential neighborhood for about $250,000 depending on the area.
High priced trendy area of town? Condos go for $120,000 for 700 square feet. Its close to a lot of stuff downtown, but ... ugh.

My sister lives in Newark, DE. She has a two bedroom apartment and shes paying about 900/month.
I live in falkville alabama, and You can purchase a house that size for 400/month easily.
Ive checked out a few forclosures in the past month. Houses that needed some work. There was a 2000 sq ft house for $40,000. Not a great neighborhood, though. lol

I live in south Texas (about an hour and a half outside of Austin) and pay $650 for a big 2 bedroom 2 bath with walk in closets, hardwood floor in the dining room and hallways and time in the kitchen and bathrooms. We live across from the college, and seconds to minutes from any shopping and dining. I lived in central NJ for 19 years and something like this would have easily been well over 1,500, for sure.

My neighborhood is nice. I live about a mile up hill, but have an ocean view. Very nice house. Other parts arent as nice or really nice. We dont have any iceheads in the neighborhood, I dont think at least. If you live about 30 minutes outside of town you can get a nice 2-3 bedroom for 800-1000 per month.

My apartment in Chapel Hill, nc was 1100 sq ft 2 br $630/month. Super cheap + my Latino neighbor would blast Vanilla Ice from his truck while peeling out of the parking lot on occasion which added a nice ambiance to the place.
....Ive been plotting ways to move up to Massachusetts for the last year or so but what I could afford in the Boston area would get me a 3-4 br house here. Ridic!!! And from my brief research on the public schools up there, you have to go private to get a decent education. I dunno....Im going off subject sorry bout that. ;)
Im tired of moving, I need to buy a house.

In many cities here in australia rent and house prices have gone crazy. If you want to live in/near a city you could pay prices that youd pay in NY, its ridiculous.

From Romania, Cluj (the second most expensive city after the capital). We four roomies live in a 4 room apt (so, each of us has his own room) and we pay about 150 bucks each. rent. and then some 100 each expenses. and that about makes half the monthly payload of a medium-high wage. that means: we go to college for 4 years (after graduating the 4 years of hi-school) and if we are lucky, afterward we get a job that pays about 450 bucks a month. and half of that goes to having a roof above your head.
so, i guess it is important for the topic> how much of your monthly income is your rent?

we are closing on a 1324 sq foot house in trumbull CT in two weeks at 392k, connecticut is CRAZY expensive but we have family here and my wife loves her job, the location is fucking fantastic and the house is cute as hell.

seems that our country is wayy more expensive to live even if you dont take in consideration the income. I mean in Arad from where I am a decent apartment goes around 400 EURO which is a difference from dollars and where you put the fact that is boring to live here as hell.
O and just the rent nothing included
brett_district said 6 months ago
not like it needed confirmation, but this post only reminds me how much paying rent in NYC sucks. $700 one (small) room in a 3 bdrm (1 bathroom) loft we built-out in the charmingly quaint East Williamsburg Industrial Park.

1700 sq ft 2 bdrm condo w/ a loft (home office).....
$1350
about 15 minutes from Downtoen Milwaukee, about 70 minutes to downtown Chicago.
used to own a house, but a condo in wisconsin...means no snow shoveling, or landscaping anymore and that is priceless....

yup.. we were lucky enough to stay at this price..we lived here for 2 years now. the standard 4 room apt goes at around 450-500 euro/month, rent only. no utilities, old and ugly, with broken windows and no furniture.
Arad so expensive? hmmm, guess the rest of the country is catching up:P
