Actually June 9th is the WWDC not MacWorld... but yeah that’s when iphone 2.0 is coming out so it is expected they will be coming out with a new 3G iPhone at the same time.

I did it last night, check out the blog.wired.com for there early release, I can’t imagine why they didn’t offically release this shit earlier for older customers. I am so glad I did this last night though because apparently this shit isn’t going to be working today.
I dled the official release this morning. It takes some time but it went smoothly. Bulk delete and all the new apps are great. I’m loving push email. I got facebook, myspace, flickr, AIM, WeatherBug, and NYTimes all on my phone now ;) I’m a happy boy. I’m going to wait like a month or so to get 3G when I upgrade my imac to a 24"

I wouldn’t say it’s bricked, just inactive. I’m sure the server load will calm down by the end of the day.
Modmyifone has screenshots of a jailbrokwn phone with the new software, I’m just waiting until it gets released to the public.
