  <body>So, Jud and myself were talking about you guys and your p90x routines and stuff. I'm totally not in good enough shape to do it yet though, so I'm going to have to start out at the p90 level. We decided to do it together for support.

We're going to do 1 month of the p90 level 1-2 routine, then 1 month of the p90 level 3-4 routine(advanced), then we will be going through the 90 day p90x routine.

That is to say that we will be doing this for the next 5 months. Then, I will be signing up for some legitimate MMA training and maybe some more videos of me getting beat up will surface.

Anybody who is down to do this with us, let us know and we'll have a little support network for getting in shape and kicking ass.</body>

I had to leave town for 3 days last year in the middle of my P90X routine and I didn't take anything with me to do at the hotel.
HUGE mistake!

When you go to start it back up it will kick your ass twice as hard, and not in a good way, it mentally sucks you away from wanting to start back up again.

That happened to me last year when I had my MMA fight, I pulled some muscles getting my ass kicked and wasn't able to work out for a while. Lost my routine. Ready to get back on the horse though.</body>

Yeah, nah it's just that it's so readily available and lots of people have access to it so we can do it together. And there are several emptees members already using it and getting results.

This is like the first step for me, towards getting in good enough shape to start really training for MMA. Once I get the fat content down and get moving better I can start focusing on strength training more.

I will say that lots of fighters do things like pullups and pushups because it works entire muscle groups, much like you do in actual combat. So it's not like they're selling snake-oil here.

You can work out to a program or you can not work out to a program. Do what you're comfortable with.</body>

Also from what I've seen of the program, there seems to be an emphasis on doing dumbbell exercises for ridiculous reps with little rest in between. I mean, that's going to make you awesome at lifting dumbbells repeatedly, but not much else as far as real-world strength goes.

But on a positive note, good for you guys for trying. Although I don't agree with the fundamentals of the program, it has to be better for you than WoW. *cough*Jud*cough*

The P90X actually looked like a lot of fun but I'm not physically ready for it, so i picked up his "entry level" DVD (the P90).  It may not be for everyone but as someone who doesn't have the discipline to work out hard, the DVD is great to pop in and follow to the letter.  Otherwise I'll just dilly-dally for an hour LOL.

I think what heavyprints was trying to say is exercises which rely on lifting your body weight and working more then one muscle group are much more effective. Being able to lift, and move your own weight with ease is a big plus when it comes to fighting.</body>

Also, how I spend my money isn't really your problem, and I'm sure you've spent money on things in your life alot less important than health - so the word sucker is kind of out of line IMO. Is the P90 you are using the ooold one?

I think I have it and I would be down. 

I'm 6'3 &amp;  weigh probably 310 lbs and really want to get back to my High School weight (201)

I would be down to do it with you guys and take before and after shots. I have pneumonia right now but it should clear in a week or so, can I pick up with you guys then?

Also just want to mention that 8 min abs, Tae Bo &amp; P90 really do work. 

8 Min Abs - if you were to do that solid for 60 days you would have a dramatic change in definition. 

Tae bo - will drop your waist size in 2 weeks and level your vitals almost immediately. 

P90 - leaves you sore but as you do it it distributes so well in your entire body and that is why it works :)</body>

yes the dude on the p90x gets annoying, 
yes the beach body name sounds weird
yes its on an infomercial

this program works better than hitting the gym constantly, which i did for 5+ years, and i switched my routine often and i saw better results using the p90x in 2 weeks than months in the gym

i'm not saying it works for everyone, but it worked for me, until i got injured (non p90x related injury) and i'm looking forward to starting it back up in the next week or so if i get cleared by the doctor

the dumbbell portion is actually very good, you can use as heavy as a weight as you want, and the routine switches up enough to where your body never gets use to it
push-ups, pull-ups are great for you, and using your own body weight is underrated

cardio is involved, and the workouts count as cardio by themselves

i never tried yoga before, and it sounded wimpy until i tried the extreme yoga in the p90x, i have respect for yoga now

      <body>for the p90 routine you just need some dumbells, which you can get for almost nothing at your local walmart.

For p90x you need some other stuff, it's not terribly expensive though.

You don't have to plateau when lifting in a gym. If people follow a proper regime of either switching lifts, or going 2 week periods of heavy max sets with 3-4 reps and 2 weeks of 6-10 reps per set. </body>

and not that joey dosnt really know what he is talking about. p90x is full of literally hundreds of different exercises to do that only physical trainers really know and know how to do with good form. you are doing tons of different chest exercises, back exercises, shoulder, arms, legs, plyometrics, kempo karate, and yoga. its much easier to watch a dvd, and do whatever that guy does, then to look up online hundreds of exercises, putting them together in sets, and formulating planned exercise days. 

basically its a full proof 3 month program that will get you in better shape than any work out program any average joe could formulate on their own. it isnt just "someone to tell you do pullups and pushup or not to eat piles of junk food"....thats like 5 percent of it.

its someone showing you how to do hundreds of different and varying exercises for chest, back, shoulders, arms, legs, abs, as well as how to do plyometrics (jump training), yoga, and kempo karate, and showing you which combinations of exercises and in what order are most beneficial for muscle gain/fat loss, and then once your body gets used to that set of exercises, how to change everything up each month so your body jumps the muscle gain plateau. its the perfect all over body workout. 

i just find it so much easier to just pop in the corresponding dvd for the exercise each day, and just doing whatever im told to do. its also more motivating and gets you into it if you are doing it together with other people, even if they are just on the tv, instead of by yourself at home.

also, "eating right" and "not eating junk food" are supposedly obvious things that anyone can do, but the diet plan really breaks down eating right in a simple yet scientific manner so you are making sure your body is getting everything it needs, and none of the stuff it dosnt.

basically, it gives you a giant shopping list of good stuff to eat, and i go by the portion method....basically, my daily diet based on the p90x is 8 portions of lean protein, 4 portions dairy, 4 vegies, 2 fruit, 1 fat, and 1 carb....and spreading that out amongst 5 meals a day. if i fulfill those portions (i mentally check them off) and ate 5 times during the day (all small to medium sized meals) then i KNOW FOR A FACT that i ate healthy, and not in just a "Oh i didnt eat fast food" way, but in an exact way....

i dunno, basically i was skeptical about p90x myself, but just doing what he says on the videos and following the diet i know gives extremely good results, and the information packed into the p90x program is vastly more beneficial and wide-reaching than "someone to tell you do pullups and pushup or not to eat piles of junk food"...honestly its tons of extremely useful information you wouldn't learn without paying a physical trainer or spending months researching on the internet.

lol sorry long winded rant, im just super stoked to start up again after i get my orthoscopic surgery on my knee done later this month.</body>

It is a lot of fat burning, but it's also good as a starter if you aren't very athletic and need to get your muscles in shape before p90x.  The weight workout murders me when I do it, but it looks pretty harmless...very deceiving</body>

they give you a schedule but it's hard to keep up when your whole body is soar and you have to do 100 pull ups.</body>

      <body>im starting P90x up again from the beginning at the end of august.

started p90x, but then 2 weeks in hurt my knee playing soccer...had a knee surgery, doing physical therapy now, and by the end of august should be healthy enough to start up p90x again! stoked!

i remember after just 2 weeks i felt so amped, all that exercise really boosts your energy levels.</body>
