my school district got a new logo and i think its terrible, but i guess some ppl like but serously it’s like two brackets? which leads me to my question why do people hire bad designers? with the internet its mad easy to find a semi decent designer.

Its the fact that it is a terrible representation of the school. Two brackets crossing has absolutely nothing to do with FDR. Also, They changed or colors from green and gold to green and shit bright yellow.

Some of these logos remind me of my art director from my a design firm I worked at. He was about 60 and it was as if he had stopped looking at modern design after 1989.
Everything he did was in Photoshop, including page layouts. Also, everything had to be beveled and embossed. Everytime I'd come to him with a logo he'd say "this is great, but you need to add a bevel to it to give it depth". He would have me look at design annuals from 1988 to get inspiration.
God, I hated that job. I quit after 6 months. Good thing, too. The company went out of business about 4 months later. The owner was the world's worst business man. He would trade out huge jobs to get a hot tub installed at his house. Then he'd stand over our shoulders while we worked telling us to hurry because we couldn't spend any time on it because the company isn't getting paid for it. At any rate, that's neither here nor there and totally getting off topic.

yeah, that logo is awful. while i agree with that there is certainly a breed of designer whom is bad but a good seller, most of the time a bad logo just means the company didn't want to dish money and had someones son/nephew/cousin do it for cheap.
