Ever have a client give you free clothing then tell you that it was worth a certain amount and they want work from you to cover it a few weeks later? I won't name names, but I think it's pretty fucked up to get nickel and dimed like that. I won't be working with the client anymore for sure. anyone else have problems like this with a client?

   they sound like bitches. drop them. and if they need anything, raise your price. and charge for consulting.

   but i havent had serious problems like that. stand up for yourself. be bold.

   i felt like i almost had a flake client, then i made a bold move and told them i was moving on and taking my designs. i got a check immediately.

   people will view you as you project yourself.

   theres a great true story about an artist who could sell his piece for cheap, so he took it to another gallery and raised the price.

   repeat repeat...

   end sale $10000 at some fancy smanchy art gallery.

   Well i just had 1 client here recently who said he really really liked 1 design I had here on emptees. He wanted something like that and so I gave something like it with some improvements. Then he goes back to me saying that it wasn't my best work at all and that it wasn't worth what i was charging. And just he just basically went pfft. Haha

    Them giving you free stuff no way negates paying you. If they want it back just send it back but make them pay for shipping and they will get it back. Its a total guilt trip to try and get a hook up on design, no matter how sweet the stuff was they sent its still costs them almost nothing compared to what they will make off your work.

    That sucks. Ive had really no issues with artists. I think they are the most important part of my little venture. And they have been awesome as of late ( Sentimentalnate, and Sketchy3431).

    As a buyer i am worried man; would really put me off approaching some designers i find on here now as i wouldn't want the piss to be taken out of me.

    I can understand some clients might be gits but i don't think you are doing any favours by naming them.

    After all this is peoples business you are dealing with .

    Completely true. By naming names we've learned to be weary of companies like target, urban outfitters and hot topic. And smaller labels like dire that were picky and giving some designers here the runaround. Not saying they're always shady. This has also allowed for people to be like "that happened to me too with them" I don't think we're ruining their name.

    But a lot of times you treat people absolutely amazing and they will try and walk all over you. Some people are all business or ego driven and what "relationship" you have established is meaningless to them when it comes down to money.

    Just the way the world turns sometimes. Gotta just smile, know your the better person, and move on to the next project.

    just tell them that it offends you, and why.

    explain to them that a favor should be a favor, and when they need work done they should be direct and upfront.

    why not try to stop the problem and still keep the client?
