Black on Black?

posted 8 months ago by tylerd1143

My band is thinking of printing on black shirts with black ink. I’ve seen this done a few times before. Anyone else done this before? Any tips before I send em to print?

You should use only glue without ink!

I think what trebor was trying to say is to use a clear plastisol without any pigment. softhand base would work well here because it would create a gloss effect for the image without adding the heavy weight of the pigment. you could also try straight up black ink or black ink with a little white mixed in so its slightly less black for a less subtle look.

Well I didn’t understand what you meant at first until I found an example. But it didn’t look any different than ink to me. I guess it makes the print softer because there isn’t really ink on it?

The printing ink include ink and glue and you have to mix it! New inks are originally includes glue.
You / or the man who print for you can buy onli glue.
This glue make your colors shiny or matt.
    The glue is transparent.
If use unly shiny glue for the screen print, you will get the t-shirt in it’s own color, only with a shiny part of it...

Or foil like others said, but if i were you, iwoluld use transparent foil because maybe the 2 black (foil and t-shirt) not the same...

i would go with the transparent effect, like a Spot UV gloss effect on sections of it. it’s pretty smexy on regular print, i can only imagine what it would look like on a shirt.
