Im really digging 2, 6, and 7. Great work! And the print with the planets in a jar is so huge. Makes it feel like you really have the whole universe right on your tee! Awesome stuff :)
1. A timber that connects the keel and sternpost of a ship.
2. An arm extending to the rear of the keel to support the rudder and protect the propeller.
3. A series of timbers attached to the stern of a small boat, serving as a keel to keep the boat on course.
So why would we name our clothing label after an inanimate timber object? Well in the 70's skaters and surfers adopted the nickname often getting called Skegs or Skegits. Supporting both skaters and surfers why not call our clothing label Skeg?

Yeah the prints are massive especially on the smalls
That universe in the jar is an instant buy from me, good call dude. I like some of the others but might not be purchases, gotta cut back on stuff I might not even wear. Solid line and I know youve been working on this for awhile and not jumping into it without any plan so good job man.
This release is sick! Monaux is definitely one of my favorite artists. Price is a little steep for me especially considering how much international shipping from AU to US is, but awesome nonetheless, great job!
Derek Deals piece is gonna be a instant seller I can already tell. Also I tried to keep the price down as much as I could and it works out pretty cheap in terms of other Australian labels.
Youve really surprised me man. Youve way out done yourself, and Im pretty proud considering you age. Well done, I look forward to the future of this label!
jumpy said: Awesome, did you print in Aus, id love to know where
Storenvy.
oh cheers :P
Yeah you know what its like printing in Aust, Id love to do a bit more research into it though cause there is a few streetwear labels that print here. Just not sure where and Im guessing if I did it would probably make me have to raise my cost a little more.
Outsourcing to China or something sounds like a good bet, Ill be getting in touch with some people that helped setup Ksubi and some other higher class street labels in the next few months so Ill let you guys know if I find anything out!
Skeg: Jahl said: Sure does the way I see it is why release 3 or 4 t-shirts when you can go all out (even if it does take little longer to plan and pay for it).
I dont think 3-4 shirts is a bad start.
artwork
4 X 250 = 1,000
50 (shirts per design) x 4 x $9 a shirt = 1,800
+ web design, hosting, e-commerce fees, paypal fees.
your looking at 3 - 4 grand
I guess I see investing in 7 shirts and not seeing the return for a while is just a very slow approach and it can also leave you in a hole you cant get out of.
Also your website fails to do one thing that is very important. Telling us what Skeg means. I think the name is fine after I know the history of the name but it is a bit weird without the definition.

Yeah I can understand your point there which is fair enough but I was never in a massive rush to set it up as I was still at school last year and I thought if I have the time why not just go all out.
Also Im not really in it for the money as Im only doing it part time and one of the main reasons Ive set it up is because Ive always wanted to make clothes that I would wear. Im also gonna take note at what you said about the website thing and write a better blurb about Skeg so everyone understands it.

Also considering that this thread has been bumped yet again, Id like to know what the more popular members of emptees have to say about Skeg ie: Dobi, Kyle, Frenden etc..
Ive had this thread up for about 6 days and heard nothing from them which is rare and Id love to see what they have to say.

3-4grand youve got to be kidding 2grand max
Nope. Jon Kruses math should be pretty accurate for this launch. 2 grand is way too small for this
Thats right were finally live after all the work weve put in. Go check out the store and pick up some rad threads and waste that leftover christmas money. Just take in mind though our site isnt complete up and running due to some technical problems so you cant view some sections of the website until next week.
No sweat though, the store is fully operational so there wont be any issues when buying stuff. Also just a heads up weve bought a whole heap of little goodies for your orders so go buy our stuff itll be worth it!

What is $35 AUD is US?
What does SKEG mean and represent by the way?
Skeg: Jahl said 8 months ago
Is there any meaning behind the name Skeg?
Definition of Skeg is as follows:
1. A timber that connects the keel and sternpost of a ship.
2. An arm extending to the rear of the keel to support the rudder and protect the propeller.
3. A series of timbers attached to the stern of a small boat, serving as a keel to keep the boat on course.
